We appreciate your interest in our practice. Helping you achieve a healthy, beautiful smile is our top priority. Our doctors and staff strive to ensure you enjoy a comfortable, pleasant experience at each visit. We encourage you to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
On the first day you receive your braces, they may feel like they are “sticking out.” Do not be alarmed. This sensation is normal and should go away once you get used to your braces and the alignment of your teeth changes. While you are getting adjusted to your braces, you may find it helpful to apply a small piece of wax to the brackets.
You may also experience sensitivity and discomfort after your braces are placed. Over-the-counter pain medications, such and Tylenol or Ibuprofen can relieve the discomfort. These medications can be taken as needed the first two to three days after you get your braces.
Once your braces are placed we will instruct you on the proper way to brush and floss, and care for your braces, and provide a list of foods you should avoid during treatment.
A healthy smile that lasts a lifetime takes teamwork, with you as a key player. With the help of your orthodontist, office staff, dentist, and with your cooperation, we can achieve the best possible smile and appearance you can have. Please assist us in providing timely and efficient treatment. Factors necessary in achieving a successful orthodontic result include:
- Maintaining appointments at regular periodic intervals.
- Elastics (rubberbands) must be worn exactly as instructed.
- Wearing retainers/appliances as instructed.
- Avoid foods that can lead to broken orthodontic appliances.
- Brushing and flossing must be superior.
